Puppy Love
Waiting for your call is just one of the rules.
The phone makes it easy to reach out and hurt someone.
Not so personal.
You won't see the pain behind my eyes,
I won't see the tears in yours.
You think you can hide the tears and the fears
but i've got your number.
"Love hurts" is a cliche, and puppy love, they say,
is just practice for the real thing.
But at seventeen, what's the difference?
So please hurry and make that call
so we can end this round.
Tomorrow is another day/fresh start/another chance
to begin the game once again.
Maybe even change the rules?
